Interesting that the Japanese even classify the types of dressing styles/trends they have....and wow they really just stick to that particular style, almost like belonging to a clan or something.

I was wondering if this girl I saw in the June issue of FRUiTs can be considered as a Mori girl. After all, she's got the long flowy skirt, neutral earth tones, girly accessories and overall romantic feel.

Today i discovered this book. The CD player looked really familiar....

...and yes he's the guy who designed that iconic CD player for Muji. (WHYYYY didn't I get it when it was still in the store?)

Time flies doesn't it? It's already been almost a month since I last posted?! Nah i dont feel any blogger' guilt, it's not like we're accountable to a huge readership anyway........lol. Kei and I have been contemplating whether we should just remove the tagboard, because it's depressing us and if we're the only ones who spam it, it's kind of lame TT_TT Whyyyyyyyy no comments.....sho sad.
Anyway.

I really love reading blogs which are slightly wordier, and have a point of view, with some kind of intellectual bantering going on. As opposed to the 'ooh i want to look exactly like this Gossip girl' or 'here are e latest runway collections i luuurve...' posts. Laselle School of the Arts Pt.2

The building was really cool. First impression when i got inside was, 'Wow, it's like a glass maze!' The entire walls of the buildings were made of glass, so you could see all the people walking up and down the stairs. Of course, that means female students probably cant wear mini-skirts to school, unless they fancy flashing their underwear before the entire school population LOL.

I think Kei has covered about pretty much of the stuff we saw, so I shall just post my personal favourite out of all the fashion offerings that we saw. Titled 'Neo-Tribalism', it involves bleached denim with cheeky Native American inspired embellishments, 'making the wearer a vehicle of communication in a post-modern urban tribe'. Don't know if i want to be part of an urban tribe, but the details on the clothes definitely made me want to try them on.

I wonder when it was that i started obsessing over geometric/optical kind of prints...very possibly from one of the many blogs that i read..Anyway, they are so interesting, so much detail to look at! Although i seriously doubt i can carry off a head-to-toe geometric print look, wouldn't it be awesome to mix all sorts of prints together?
I think i need more exciting leggings for a start - more colours, more prints..tired of the old black and brown already.

A quote from Dries Van Norton. (No wonder he's one of my favourite designers!) Perhaps i can use that as a sneaky excuse for why we are such lazy bloggers. Ehehee. I do agree wholeheartedly that fashion is not everything in our lives, though. To me, fashion is only one of the manifestations of one's character - one's quirks, philosophies, sentiments. A girl who's into hippie flowery prints is probably quite different from one who swears by dressing only in black. There's no right or wrong, everybody can just wear whatever they please, as long it is truly what they believe in. Or it could simply be another way to express your mood on a particular day. I personally dont believe in wearing clothes that do not say something about myself, or because, 'Oh, this is so in now.' Or even if some of my favourite bloggers are wearing it. (All right, i might get a little tempted...)

I think it all boils down to what works for you, not just your body, but also your own philosophy.
Damn i need more practice in writing coherent entries.

It always happens with me, this sporadic jumping from one link to another. One minute Im admiring this girl's lovely outfit on Lookbook, in the next I realise she has a blog, and jump over to it. Then I see this intriguing picture, which links me to an etsy shop...and oh dont you know, she has a blog, too! There goes almost one hour....These are not completely fashion content, but i believe fashion and art are intertwined, and both complementary elements of life.

Love at first sight with the velvet jacket, will definitely try to hunt it down in the months to come...also, the lace-covered pair of jeans is so delicately beautiful. Less literal and much cooler than all those corny lace-hemmed girly skirts practically all over the place just last year, don't you agree??

3rd Thrifting outing <3

Third thrifting outing...hooray! So sad there weren't any shoes in our size this time round...luck has run out? Lots of interesting apparel though. We found some incredibly gaudy clothes like you won't believe, some prime examples pictured below.

The sweater was heavily embellished with all sorts of bits and scraps that could only have made sense to the one who added them, probably when she/he was super high. We were discussing whether the sweater was sold like this, or whether the embellishments/ blatant graffiti was the work of its owner. Most probably the latter, because i don't know if any sane person would buy it. (...but you never know!) Would make a good Halloween outfit for sure - scare the wits out of everybody who sees it.

Then there is the red jacket, no less hideous.
Featured piece of the day is the Yellow polka dot dress, so Yellow i need to use caps. Graciously modelled by Kei here, it kind of suits her?! HAHAHAHA~

Alright, hideous clothes aside, of course there were quite alot of awesome stuff. Is it coincidence or fate that the dresses i find there always fit me so well? Like they were lying there waiting for me...So i got two, both lovely. Will wear them soon. Kei got a denim jumper, and a unbelievably well-fitted denim jacket. Perhaps i'll persuade her to wear them together hehhehheh...

Ohoho~ I've proven (to myself) that I am no techno-phobe. Just managed to make not one, but two collages using the new software i so gleefully blogged about in the last post. Although i think a big part of the reason why they turned out so well is because the images themselves were already very cohesive....the pictures are from a spread in my fav Japanese magazine So-en, in the October2008 issue. The soft pastel colours are wonderful, and i would really like to feel the texture of that sweater.

Im a sentimental person - i like things/people with abit of history, or which look like they have some kind of story behind them. It's very intriguing to pick up a lace blouse when thrifting, and wonder whether the previous owner is some rich old lady, or a beautiful girl who wore it on her first date. Hehehe.
It seems like many of these pics feature plaid in some form or other, which i lurrve.
Perhaps it is true then, that one covets most the thing she cannot have....because i look like some matronly country bumpkin out on the town for the first time whenever i attempt to wear plaid.
T_T....but i still love grandma chic!!

I cannot for the life of me comprehend why people buy expensive bags than burn a godamn gigantinormous hole in their pocket, while simultaneously being possibly uglier and more boooooooooooring than their sense of fashion.

Oh lord.. I'm dying of excitement looking at these bags..

Considering they come from various high street brands, interestingly enough most of them look vaguely similar. Hmmm..

Ever see a friend carrying one of these around? Well, please tell the poor soul to stop! All it screams is cookie cutter fashion. If you are going to spend that kind of money on a bag, spend it on something with a little more oomph for heaven's sake!!!

1] Kei (who, by the way, is actually e owner of this blog. Thought i'll remind u again...) has finally regained her interest in continuing to blog here. So! As an ever faithful friend i shall try to fill the gap for the time being, before going off to start my own blog (maybe). In the meantime, i shall continue pestering her to hurry up and update.

2] Also, i've gotten myself a shoddy (handphone) camera, so some shoddy, grainy pics of whatever i choose to take may appear soon. Hehehe.

3] I've installed this pretty cool freeware which enables me to put together a collage of some sort...so hooray!

Creating a style all my own

That's why i really like Fruits magazine- it showcases people who are not afraid to experiment with clothes, and create a style all their own. You can just see that they're having so much fun....like how we used to play dress up when we were young. Keeping an open mind to the numerous possible ways of wearing your favourite things, and not take yourself too seriously.
That's how i believe so called style and fashion should be embraced. At the end of the day, we should get a kick out of it ;)

This picture actually creeps me out, but i can't help staring at it! It's weirdly intriguing. All those yellow veils, topped with wreaths and party hats, taken out of their usual cheery, childlike context, make for a really eerie atmosphere. Brrr!
Also, the first time i saw the picture, i was like, 'Wow, these models look so alike!'....Hurhurhur, i am either blind or daff.

Cuff Crazy

Ahahaa, I have an apparent talent for coming up with cheesy entry titles.
Yeah, all of a sudden I've developed an insatiable appetite for cuffs- the bigger and louder, the better. Just slip on a single cuff, and voila, there's this gratifying sense of power to one's outfit. Really, you have to try it to see what i mean.

Best of all, a cuff is unexpectedly versatile...dressed up, dressed down, they always bring something different to the outfit. I liked how it was paired in the Andrew Gn Spring 2009 show.

Cuffs can range from the cheap and chic to the truly out-of-this-world BUT expensive.

Ahhh... I should really try to go find some readers... but since I like update once in 2000 yrs...

Contrary to my previous post, I actually didn't buy any of what I posted, instead I bought this:

Ruby Leather Lace-up Boot - 4 inches and completely unpractical.. impractical.. ei.. un.. im.. heck.

Anyway, I just ordered it.. so will be maybe getting it in 3 weeks time?

Actually, it doesn't matter when I get it, since I can't wear it to school, or work, where I am 99% of the week, despite meticulously planning a 3-day week for the school term -_- (why! why! nooooo!!!!!! damn you professors!!!!!!).

I would also like to post more pics of me in my outfits, but since I'm going to school nowadays looking like a crazy woman, I look too much like a complete shit to post up any pics.

The boots will look crazy cool when I wear them on Chinese New Year and break my ankle... But it won't happen because red is an auspicious colour mwhahahahaa...

First up: the fabulous premium leather Sabina Leather Foldover Satchel, with its equally fabulous price tag of US$245. I'm so dyiinnnggg for some filthy rich bugger out there to get this and write a review - so I can have a chance to be mad-out-of-my-mind jealous.

Next up: The pretty cute Play by C. Ronson Plaid Briefcase Bag. Toyed with getting it for awhile, before figuring out (duh) that it's so not worth the price (US$88).

And... another out-of-my-reach priced bag of US$245: The Sabina Leather Foldover in pomegranate.... -_- ...out of my reach.

On to things that I actually intend (a.k.a can) buy.

The Saddlery Buckle Bag (US$58) which I 50% want to buy, and Suede Fringe Hobo (US$78) which I desire with a 100% max.

Let me pose a question to myself, why would anybody wear this:

Hmmm.. I don't know. Why would anyone pay the US$25.99 this costs..

Maybe if I had taken 10 ecstasy pills half an hour before..

Or this.. wait, as incredibly tacky as somethings are, I can imagine how it might be bought by something vaguely humanoid.. Like this:

I imagine maybe a stage performer might wear it, although I can't quite imagine a sane person wearing it on the normal streets. Perhaps if she was on drugs and shouting out "hooker!!!".

I once sat behind a colleague who tapped me on the shoulder one day and said, "hey, I want to buy this". I turned around and saw the most horribly PURPLE shoe. It was so PURPLE, if purple was a primary colour, that would be it. The Sweet Valley Unicorn Club would have clapped with glee, and declared the day off as officially Purple Day.

So yeah, anything has a buyer, someone, somewhere.. probably high, probably insane.

Good friends are hard to come by. Not in the sense that they are good, kind or terribly understanding. Not in the sense that they are willing to go that extra mile for you (although they often are), or have a good heart (sometimes they are total things-that-rhyme-with-witches), or care or are there for you (What's up with all the chick flicks out there? Are all female friendships like that? The muack muack, tell me your problems, awww, hug hug, YUCKS).

Ok, I'm going out of point. But my main point is:

It's true, Shelie is there when she's needed and not when she's not. Asking things is never an issue because I would never badly need something from her that she would not give. My expectations and standards match hers. There are no bad friends, just friends who don't complement each other well.

Sorry for the spastic title- this is a quickie post before i rush off to work. Yeah...this blog is still 'alive and kicking', just that Kei and I have been too caught up with mad school life to update. Hopefully this kind of long break in posting will not happen again.

Regardless of the trend in vogue, i've always been searching for plaid shirts that i can carry off. Easy you say? Not for me T_T. However! I just found 2 great plaid shirts when i went thrifting last week~ Yaaay~

In the meantime, a quick search turned up loads of plaid goodness. No fancy photoshopped collage for now, im afraid. I'll have to get a new pc first.........

Thought i'ld better post something before Kei bashes me for neglecting this blog. (figuratively speaking, of course....why would she do that, she's a kind and gentle soul....)

Im like a magpie- i collect all sorts of things. Ever since i started browsing magazines online, i've been saving random images that interest or inspire me. Here are some, from So-En! I've always been a little unsatisfied with my choice of colours for clothes, so these offer great inspiration on how to wear colour innovatively. Erm, just ignore the watermarks.

Why? Because I'm mad. They cost US$46.50. For those lazy to do the math, that's about S$80, including shipping and whatnot. Ok, why am I kicking a fuss over $80 pair when I have bought $140 Nine West wedges and $200 Topshop boots? Because... those were NINE WEST, and TOPSHOP, and this is ALLOY. Items known to be overpriced and not known for quality.

ahhh... The suede booties I was looking at in ebay are gone.. The pain..

New Watch!

Not really getting this.. My pictures look about a 1000x better when I upload them using blogger's Picasa Web, as compared to using Photobucket. But Picasa Web only has a quota limit of 50 mb, which will run out sooner or later right?

But on to more important things - new watch!

And a whole lot of new bags, maniac me haha. But damn is this watch gorgeous, and the best thing is... wait for this... drum roll... it only costs $8!!! 8 freaking dollars!!! Some of you may argue that cheap = low quality. But my pasar malam watch lasted me for 5 years, and my authentic TAG Heuer watch lasted me about 6 mnths. Ok so I dropped it. But you can't argue with the price. Hah, got you. 8 dollars let me remind you.

I'm still trying to take a decent picture of the bags. Haiz. Blame my lousy photographic skills, but every picture I take of the bags doesn't do justice to them. But I'll get it done, I promise!

Since I'm the one doing the work of putting together the pictures, I figured I should have the honour of posting my pics first... These are us on my university campus grounds. I had a 7hrs to burn between classes (7 freaking hrs! My bloody timetable is bloody hell!), so I dragged my dear friend all the way from her house to my campus on a hour plus journey, just so she could accompany me. Good persuasive skills or what?

Sooo... 1st attempt at shameless camwhoring. And in the moment of brilliant thinking, forgot to bring the camera... mwhahah... so we ended up using my pathetic 1.5 megapixel hp camera..

But if I must say so myself, the pictures didn't turn out half as bad.

More me... Showing off my gorgeous vintage leather shoes I just won off ebay.. and showing off a plum I bought at NTUC for $2.45 for 15 plums. Cheap!

That's Shelie with her Charles & Keith bag, is it not lovely. But I'd never get a white bag, same reason why I almost never buy white apparel - because they get dirty easily. I'd get a heart attack and die young if I have too much white.

Note: Pic at middle left. That's a pic of Shelie's Bloody Stupid Camera. Why? Because the viewfinder is half obscured by the lens. Not that it makes much difference. According to Shelie, the viewfinder is completely useless.

Hermm.. so how exactly do you know what the hell you are taking, when you are taking it? You don't.
